Making an Impact

Young Life leaders are more than caring adults who serve as role models for kids. They are involved in kids' everyday lives. The following story that occurred recently shows our leaders' dedication to kids.

John regularly attends basketball practice at the high school where he is a Young Life leader. At first, John did not know the young men on the basketball team, but after weeks of watching practice he began to get to know who they were and exchanged a few short conversations with some of the players. One day, one of the players approached John. "You come to watch us practice a lot don't you?" the young man asked John. "Yes, I do," John said. "That's cool," the young man said. "No one does that."

That's just one way Young Life leaders impact our friends' lives. The persistence of a leaders' involvement expands and enhances our high school friends' perspectives on their own life's value.

Volunteering

If you’re a parent, or simply an adult who cares about kids in your community, Young Life welcomes your involvement. There are a variety of ways you can serve and impact the lives of kids in your neighborhood and around the world.

Take a moment to watch this video, then consider the impact you may have in lives of kids in our community.  Below are a couple of opportunities we invite you to consider.

Committee Member

Members of a Young Life committee are adults who are committed to providing every kid in their community the opportunity to hear about Jesus Christ in terms they can understand. Committee members pray for Young Life, promote the ministry in the community, care for the local staff and volunteer leaders, as well as ensure the financial health of the ministry.  To get involved, contact Matt Shepherd or your school's coordinator.

Adult & High School Volunteer Leaders

Volunteer leaders are absolutely vital to the mission of Young Life. It is their involvement that allows lives to be changed. Young Life volunteer leaders participate in a full range of activities that help them build these significant relationships with kids.

To get involved, come check us out at 6:00 pm on the 1st Tuesday of every month at Great Harvest Bread (535 N. Woodlawn, Wichita).  Contact Matt Shepherd or your school's coordinator with any questions.
