February 5, 2018

The first week
table.JPGend of February, 500 leaders from around the region gathered at Dry Gulch in Oklahoma for a Young Life leaders retreat. Wichita Young Life took 90 leaders to the retreat, which is offered once every four years.

A highlight of the weekend included a "Long Table" celebration of the body of Christ participating in one banquet together. Leaders also spenchad.jpegt time in discipleship training with Chad Edwards, senior vice president of greater Europe for Young Life International.

Edwards used a tree, a map and a list to show leaders how to implement discipleship in ministry. The tree was used as a symbol to encourage leaders to seek three personal mentors and, in turn, to mentor/disciple three others. The map provided a visual picture of the territory that has been given each of his followers. Finally, Edwards encouraged leaders to develop a list of the friends they would like to join with in ministry and to pray over those people.

Among those who attended the retreat was Amanda Brawner-Fenters, who was involved in Wichita YoungLives in high school, and is now serving as a YoungLives leader. She shared this post following the weekend:
