MULCH FAQ
How do you choose the vendor and mulch that you supply?
- After years in the “mulch business,” we have discovered that our customers are most satisfied with a high quality mulch. This year we’re offering top quality mulch from Johnson’s, Woodard Mercantile, and Site One at a discounted price of $8.50/bag. These companies are generously supporting Young Life by allowing us to purchase in bulk.
Can we use other mulch, but still have the kids lay it and donate?
- YES! If you have a special type of mulch that you‘d like to use we would be happy to distribute it for you. You would need to have it at your house on the day that you are scheduled. When the mulch job is complete, you would only write a donation check to Young Life.
How many bags do i need?
- One 3 cubic foot bag will cover approximately 18 square feet, 2 inches deep. ALWAYS estimate high! If you order too many bags we won‘t charge you for the bags you don‘t use. It is much more difficult to find more bags of mulch in the middle of a job if we are short.
How do i schedule a mulch job at my house?
- Visit younglife.wichita.org to register. Pick a team/date that works for you. We will email you to confirm date and eligibility.
Can i have my business mulched?
- YES! We have mulched for churches and small businesses in the past!
When do I pay?
- Our preference is that you pay by check at the time your yard is mulched. If you pay by cash you will not receive a tax deductible receipt. If you need to pay by credit card we will need to add a 3% processing fee to cover the cost.
Can you give me an exact time of when you will be at my house to mulch?
- Unfortunately we do not know the order of mulch jobs until the day before or morning of the job. The timing depends on the locations of the jobs and how many kids are available to mulch. The mulch crew leader should give you a call and give you an estimate of arrival time either the day before or morning of the mulch job. Please pick a date when you will be flexible.
